Big Dog
The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog's legs are articulated like an animal’s, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule, measuring 1 meter long, 0.7 meters tall and 75 kg weight. BigDog has an on-board computer that controls locomotion, servos the legs and handles a wide variety of sensors. BigDog’s control system manages the dynamics of its behavior to keep it balanced, steer, navigate, and regulate energetics as conditions vary. Sensors for locomotion include joint position, joint force, ground contact, ground load, a laser gyroscope, and a stereo vision system. Other sensors focus on the internal state of BigDog, monitoring the hydraulic pressure, oil temperature, engine temperature, rpm, battery charge and others. In separate trials, BigDog runs at 4 mph, climbs slopes up to 35 degrees, walks across rubble, and carries a...
Internet in the future
In 1813,worlds 100 smart scientists at that time were asked on how they think life will be in the year 2000,one of their funniest answers was that rapid mailing will be delivered using a carrete pulled by 4 horses!!!,but fortunatly this didnt happend, instead there was immediate delivery on email,so what do u think about internet after 100 years? And how emails will be delivered? Do u think we will need to write our messagesor there will be "mind sensors" that will translate our ideas into messages. What does your dream home look like?
We all dream of having this amazing home to live in. I'm curious to know what everyone's dream home would look like. What type of appliances would you have? Would you have a pool? Is it a large home or one just big enough to hold your family? My dream home would be a light tan color on the outside with dark green shutters. I would have one room in the front that has a vaulted ceiling and from the outside it would look like one of those things on a castle...not the thing that looks like the playing piece in chess, but it would be pointed at the very top. I would have a large kitchen that I can actually move around in. It would have an island in the middle and a breakfast bar between the kitchen and the living room. I would have Cherry wood cabinets and one of those new high tech stoves that has the sensors and everything on it. I can't remember what they are called, but they are some type of Intelligent stove. My refrigerator would be a high tech one that has a tv and/or internet in it and the reason for that is so that I can watch the cooking channel or get recipes instantly while being in the kitchen. It would have the temperature...
DJ Max Portable 2
Hello to everyone![em]happy[/em]Among games that I really like playing when I'm at the arcade would be those that you can play along with music. Be it with a guitar, drum(s), dance pad, motion sensors or anything that you can add to the sort of arcade game where you play along with music. But things change and I seldom go to the arcades to play games like that. Would often look ridiculous if I do since I'm not that keen on embarassing myself infront of other arcade goers[em]lol[/em]Fortunately, consoles can also play games like these. Dance Revo series and also Guitar Hero were among such games I played. Yet, things change again and we now enjoy hand held gaming.I particularly have a PSP and play any game that I might fancy but, when I realized that a game like those I use to play at the arcades was also available on the PSP, I immediately went ahead to acquire it.So from the point of acquiring the game and making it work up to now, I'm playingDJ Max Portable 2. I know there was another title before this one but, I couldn't get one of those though, hopefully, I could still do.[em]rolleyes[/em]I am really enjoying it, even though I'm not as responsive as I...
American or Foreign Cars! Which Do You Prefer?
Over the last twenty years, I've owned only American made automobiles. But lately I'm really becoming really annoyed at the problems that keep popping up.I own a Ford Windstar minivan. It runs great. It's very comfortable and I really like it. It has 80,000 miles on it, so it's relatively new in regards to today's standards.I do all the things you are supposed to do. I change the oil on a regular basis. I get it tuned-up, using the best spark plugs and wires. I rotate the tires and make sure all the other fluids are fresh. But lately it's been one thing after another. About 2 months ago my engine light came on. I took it to get serviced and was told that I needed to replace two  oxygen sensors and a manifold gasket that was leaking air, causing the the fuel to burn lean. That repair cost me over $500.Then about 2 weeks ago I took my car for inspection and was told it failed because part of the subframe was rusted. The subframe basically holds the engine and transmission in place. If it had rusted completeley, the engine and transmission could have fell to the ground as I was driving. That repair cost was $1230.Now my passenger...
the promise of nanotechnology
hi friends!well i want to say that a drop of blood enough to analyse over 50 different health parameters in a minute or two.explosives planted in crowded areas being detected by sensors.vehicles with all sorts of sensors . proximity sensors and so on .this is only the barebones of what becomes possible, thanks to advances in "nanotecnology". imagination is the limit and its application are vast.from the automobiles to health care, from energy to smart materials, nanotechnology can be used other wise.it has really begun in this world and has changed the life of many people.people have started making things very small and still capable to perform a lot of work,we might not have to do much work in the future and the life span of a person might reach upto 200 years!the cure of many diesease will be their and their may be many gadgets in this world which we cannot even imagine .we might become a litle lazy and we might even forget how to do hard work we might be sitting on a bed all the time and cleaning the house by only pressing a button we might become reluctand to get up.a t.v might be folded a hundred times and take anywhere we like!wow i am...
My brochure that I wrote on a MSLT a type of sleep test.
I would like my friends input on my newest brochure that I wrote on Narcolepsy. I wrote two versions. I will copy and past the second version because I think it flows better. I totally wrote this one on my own so I would like some help with the wording. The Sleep Studies In order for the doctor to gather all the information he needs to determine if you have a sleep disorder you will be staying at the sleep center for one night and until after 4 PM the next day. The first part of the night you will be having what is called a Polysomnogram (PSG) and the next day you will start the MSLT portion of the test. What is a Polysomnogram (PSG)? A PSG is the part of the sleep study where several sensors and electrodes are applied to your body and you sleep all night. If you have not gotten it ask for a brochure called: Your Night At One of Our Sleep Labs. What is a Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT)? A MSLT is a sleep study that consists of a series of five twenty-minute nap periods that are taken two hours apart. What is the doctor testing for?Idiopathic hypersomnolence: In simple terms is an unexplained excessive daytime sleepiness even if you have gotten your regular...
Ever had the security tag left in your clothes?
This has happened to me at least once. You go to the store, buy something only to get home and realize that they left the HUGE, bulky plastic security tag in your clothes. How could the cashier MISS it?[em]lol[/em]What I always wonder is how they manage to let people get through even if they have tagged clothing. Heck, you could go rob the store blind and they wouldnt know, or something? LOL. In my local mall, the security sensors at the front of the store in EVERY STORE is always broken. A person will walk buy outside the store, it goes off. A person who didn't buy (or steal) anything will walk through, having found nothing they wanted - it goes off. A person ENTERS the store, it goes off. It's ridiculous, and they never stop anyone, lol. It makes you wonder how they let such things go.So has anyone else ever had this huge bulky tag left in their new clothes? And better yet, have you ever been STOPPED for it because a store worker assumed that because the alarm went off, that you hadn't paid?Oh, and please share how you get the darned things off[em]lol[/em] I've come up with a pretty okay method of prying it off with a screwdriver, but I'm sure there's a...
World of virtual relationships... internet and robotics!
Well there are some successes on internet relationships, my hubby's ex is one example, she found one during their marriage![em]thumbdown[/em] At least, she found human touch more appealing! But this Japanese bloke made life simpler! The love of his life is right where he is, no need for IMs and cybercams activities. He claims, “She’s very lovable and though she’s not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend.” HOW? "Using her infrared sensors and battery power, the EMA enters into a sort of “love mode” and will pucker up to kiss any nearby human heads. She can also walk and dance when in the presence of another human being."[em]blink[/em] Oww dear! The EMA robot will go on sale in September for around $175 and will be targeted towards lonely adult men. Company is hoping to sell over 10,000 units in the first year.SEGA toys has done it again!! Congratulations on the start of the fall of humanity if lifesize girlfriend and boyfriend robots comes out of the market … we are gonna be soooo scr*wed! Will you ever resolve to this kind of relationship?
